Towneley Golf Club

Towneley is a friendly welcoming golf club, formed in 1932 and based at a municipal golf course.

Members pay a subscription which covers the cost of running the club, member insurance and affiliation to the Lancashire Union of Golf Clubs and England Golf. All of the club's officers are volunteers. We have no paid staff and therefore actively encourage all members to support the club by volunteering to help with the running of the club.

Golf Club membership subscriptions do not cover green fees. These must be paid separately to Burnley Leisure who operate the course and the clubhouse.

The club operates a full programme of competitions for members throughout the summer season. Men's competitions are held on Saturdays and the Ladies have competitions on Sundays and Wednesdays. On Tuesday there is a Stableford competition open to both men and ladies.

Throughout the winter season, the Tuesday competitions continue as a roll-up run by the shop. On Saturdays, we operate a winter league with prizes for the winner and runner up on the day, prizes for the top performers over the season and a season finale for members who have played enough league games to qualify. The format is singles Stableford.

The club and individual sections also run a varied programme of social events throughout the year.
